Kitten heels. Oh God. I used to own two pairs of pointy kitten heels, mainly because actual heels were out of the question and I had somehow convinced myself that I was freakishly tall (which I’m not by the way. At all. I’m just a freak), and so I wore kitten heels. Up until 2005, I wore them a lot. These days, kitten heels aren’t really my favorite anymore and to be perfectly honest I haven’t come across a pair that would convince me otherwise, despite all the comeback rumors and these popular Valentinos. OK, OK I suppose I could manage the studded Valentino ones, in case someone wants to get them for me. No takers, huh?
Demi wedges however; those I have been secretly attracted to for quite some time now. They look really chic and comfy to me. And OK, I admit seeing these and these gorgeous demi wedges from Marc by Marc Jacobs may have something to do with it also. Continue reading »
It’s My Birthday & I’ll Eat As Much Cake As I Want To
This was pretty much Lara’s motto last week. We had so many cakes, I can’t even remember anything beside the fact that they were all extremely delicious and I probably went through the week on a severe sugar high. At least that would explain how I managed to get up every single day at 7 AM without even blinking an eye.
Now, I know I said I’d post these last night but after realizing that I had over 200 photos from both of Lara’s birthday celebrations it also became clear to me that I was waaaayy too ambitious if I thought I’d sort these out before passing out dead tired. Also the Game of Thrones was on, so you know… Anyhow, as I said Lara LOVED (yes with capital letters) her third birthday. And admittedly, it was really special because we were finally able to celebrate it with both our of our families, one being our friends in France and the other our actual families back home. This truly was one for the books (or you know, my project life album). The photos are a bit random and all over the place so sorry about that. Or not really, it’s just the way it is over here. We’re Back!
Hello hello! Lari and I are finally back from our trip to Slovenia last week. We came home, exhausted on Saturday night and while I was meaning to post a little something yesterday, any desire to do so vanished when I woke up on Sunday morning with suitcases and clothes spread out everywhere and our apartment in an even worse state of disarray than usual. However, if you think I cleaned instead of wrote, you would be wrong as well. Our day was mostly spent recuperating, napping and watching TV. Not exactly “mom of the year” type of stuff but judging by the fact that Lara wasn’t exactly complaining about watching Tom & Jerry, I’m guessing she didn’t mind a low key day that much either.
Our trip was so much fun, we saw our family and friends and celebrated Lara’s third birthday, which was a huge success. So huge in fact, that I was asked repeatedly for the rest of the week if it’s still her birthday and if we’re going to have cake again. Kids! Anyhow, we were running around all week, doing one thing or another and so, by Tuesday, it was pretty clear to me I will not get anything done and so I decided to just let it go and enjoy the quality time. I swear, going home is like a productive black hole for me but sometimes those can feel good, especially if you’re averaging 9 hours of computer time per day. What a sicko!
But all good things and all productive holes end at some point and so we’re back with a spring in our step. No actual spring on the horizon yet – sorry folks – but you know what they say, hope dies last!
P.S Photos from Lara’s grand birthday party will be up later tonight.

And She’s 3!
Wow, time flies! I know this because Easter weekend has come and gone and I didn’t have time to prepare a single post before we set on our mini vacation to Slovenia. Sorry about that and happy Easter everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful time with tons of good food and quality family time.
The second reason I know time flies when you’re having fun is because today is Lara’s third birthday. Third people! I honestly feel like it was just before yesterday I found out we were expecting, and then yesterday she was born and today she’s a little three year old person who says the funniest things, jokes around ALL the time, hides things to trick you, switches back and forth between French and Slovenian like it’s no big deal at all and just yesterday, right before she went to bed, she said “awesome” in English because you know, we learn something new every day.
Another thing that’s awesome? Being her mommy. I think we always think of parenting as teaching our children and preparing them for life and everything it brings but we often forget everything our little ones teach us. Things like patience and love. So much love in fact you think your heart will jump out of your chest. They teach you to appreciate the sunrise because you’ve almost forgotten what it’s like getting up in time to see it. Little ladies teach you about the color pink and purple. Lots of pink and purple. They make you want to be better because as much as you’re proud of them each and every day you want them to be proud of you as well.
Happy 3rd birthday sweetie, I love getting up in the morning to your sweet chatter and your hand pulling mine out of bed so you can show me it’s no longer dark out. I love you so, so very much and I’m so incredibly thankful for each and every day of the past three years. You’re AWESOME
You Are My Wild
I know you’ve probably heard about this stunning portrait photography project already but I wanted to share it anyway just because I find it so inspirational. And on days like this rainy one over here we (me) could certainly use some. You Are My Wild brings together 14 photographers and each week they document how they see their children. It’s gorgeous and honest and it will bring a smile to your face on any day. Continue reading »
