Christmas is around the corner (literally!!!) and the month of festivities is in full speed. Anyone else feels as December is the month of constant eating? It starts with Thanksgiving dinner, big Christmas dinner and last, but definitely not least, it’s the NYE dinner. And in between, there is a cookiemania. So I am dedicating this post to a little cooking.
1. True Food by Andrew Weil. My friend, who btw is an amazing chef, suggested this book to me and oh my, Mr. Weil really knows his stuff. He is a founder, professor, and director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine plus he received a Bachelor in Science in Biology and a Medical Doctor from Harvard University. All in all, he is all about true food.
2. Barefoot Contessa Foolproof by Ina Garten. She is an Emmy Award winning host of the Food Network program Barefoot Contessa. She is known for designing recipes with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and time-saving tips. Just about what we moms need.
3. Lorraine Pascale’s Fast, Fresh and Easy Food. Lorraine is a former British model and television cook. She also owns a retail outlet in London selling baked goods. Her recipes are easy and fun to make. Looks like classic made with a twist of modern.
4. And to make all the cooking more fun, I like to include Mark in the making. I found this cute cooking/baking set for children (for her and for him!) on Sloj-Detajler website.
Also, I have a little confession to make. Sometimes I run out of ideas of what to cook or I feel as I am cooking the same dishes over and over again. So this “cheat sheet” above kind of solves my problem. And so, this past Sunday, I tested Ina Garten’s lemon chicken breasts recipe and Lorraine Pascale’s little bramley apple pies recipe. Both were delicious! 😉
