Long Weekend In The Alps

So as you know, we spent last weekend in the Alps, hiking, getting refreshed and basically just enjoying a few days off. Lari and Lev loved it so much it made my heart sing.

We went up the mountain on Saturday with friends for a short little walk and then lunch. The views, oh my God, amazing! When we were up there we saw people doing tandem paragliding and Lara wanted to do it so badly. Minimum age is 6 years old but I was honestly a little freaked out about it and told her we’ll do it next time when dad’s around too. I think you need a prep course and I just need to mentally prepare myself. It looked absolutely amazing though.

On Saturday evening we went to listed to a chorus concert, “Les Choeurs de France”. I’ve never been to anything like that before and it was quite late but we had a really fun time. It was a great experience for the kids and me, especially since there were 400 people singing in the chorus. There was also a part when kids sang some songs Lara is loving right now and she was on cloud nine.

On Sunday we packed our stuff and decided to take the gondola up the mountain one last time. We were supposed to just take in the view one last time and then head off to Annecy but we suddenly just took an impromptu hike to a lake and it was so spontaneous and fun. I was a little worried because I didn’t take my backpack for Lev but he ended up walking 90% of the time; I just had to piggy back him for the last bit on our way back because he was exhausted.

The views were so beautiful, I’m still thinking about them a week later and I honestly wouldn’t mind doing this every year or pretty much just getting a cabin hahaha. Vid, thoughts? We’re definitely returning to ski in the winter!

We finally got in the car to head back and I’ve been dreaming of Annecy since we drove past on the way over but Lari and Lev literally fell asleep as we were supposed to get off the highway and we still had about 4 hours left to go so I decided to leave it for another day. I hope that day comes soon though because it’s absolutely gorgeous apparently.

Anyhow, it was a great trip and I was especially happy that I got to have a quick holiday with the kids too and spend some time with them like that. It’s been kind of weird not having that classic summer we’ve had for the past couple of years so it was nice to do something that would get us at least some of that feeling.
