Fall Break

Hey everyone, I hope you’re all having a fantastic week , preceded by a fabulous weekend.

Ours was so much fun, one of those easy going weekends with no particular plans, just lots of home time, play time, with a touch of my fave Leaves candle and some Hocus Pocus to get into Halloween mood.

The kids are on fall break and while I’m not able to spend the entire break at home with them like I used to, I did take a few days off to have some fun with them and to give them a break too from all the activities outside of school. Vid is away with the national team so despite the fact that it’s not like all the other years before that, we’ve still got our little trio fantastico going on.

Our plan for the break is simple: have fun, relax, carve some pumpkins, bake pumpkin pie, go for a walk and cuddle and snuggle. Sounds like a pretty fine plan to me.

What are you all up to for the next week or two of fall break?

In the meantime, I wanted to share some things I’ve been into lately. I’ve been reading quite a bit and listening to a lot of podcasts and music, especially on my way to work so I thought I’d share some of the goodness with you fine folks. Podcasts are so freaking great, I can’t believe I haven’t gotten on that cool train before this.

OK, here it goes…

On my reading list:

Simplicity Parenting by Kim John Payne – amazing book, I just love it. In that regard I also actually bought this talk by KJP on the “Overwhelm of Boys” and Vid and I both watched it and thought it was just so brilliant and interesting and important. If you have the chance, listen to it, you won’t be sorry.

What Happened by Hillary Rodham Clinton – because of course I want to know what happened.

Women Who Run With The Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés – I was so intrigued by this and I’m just getting started so I can’t say much aside from that it goes very, very deep into the female psyche so it’s not something you can just breeze through.

Favorite Podcasts:

Off The Vine With Kaitlyn Bristowe – this is an easy podcast to listen to and it’s just hilarious. I started watching the Bachelorette on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season and watched it religiously for the past two years but hers was still the best one. She’s very funny and listening to the podcasts reminds me of every single conversation with my girlfriends. It’s a feel good one.

The Heart Of It by Estée Lalonde– this is a new podcast and Estee is actually a vlogger but I love her and this so much.

How I Built This by NPR – I’ve been listening to this for about 6 months now and every week a new entrepreneur discusses how they built their business, the challenges they had to overcome and why they started in the first place. It’s really, really interesting and inspiring.

And an Autumnal Playlist:

Every single one of these songs feels like fall to me:-)
