That’s it for October folks! And boy was it a good one. I feel like we really got the most out of fall this year. We really did. The last couple of days have been so gorgeous here in Slovenia. In that fashion there’s a large batch of photos coming your way! Enjoy 🙂
LJUBLJANA IN THE FALL
LARA’S FAVORITE BRIDGE. WE ALWAYS STOP HERE!
Lara was thrilled about running and she even went to school for a couple of days last week! I didn’t want her to go really because I felt like her days are pretty intense as they are and she should just enjoy the holidays but she insisted on checking it out and she loved it so much she ended up going until the end of the week!
I DECIDED TO BE OBNOXIOUS AND GOT US MATCHING T-SHIRTS FOR THE RUN
Saturday was a bit crazy with the run, it was so crowded and Lev wasn’t really loving it. None of us have been sleeping well at night and everything was so off schedule, including nap time, so he’s really been struggling the whole week. Also, the terrible two’s or whatever are in absolute full swing. Going a little crazy, I’ll admit! Lara on the other hand had the time of her life, you could just feel her excitement about being a part of it. I’m so happy she got to do it!
A MEDAL AND A BALLOON
In the afternoon my family and I did a fun run for breast cancer awareness with Europa Donna Slovenia, which was so much fun. We all wore pink wigs and just had a great time. The ladies at Europa Donna do the run every year and I was really happy to be a part of it this time.
And finally the big day on Sunday. As I mentioned earlier in the week, I was really nervous about running. I have no idea why really but I was. Vid’s parents took the kids on Saturday afternoon so I could get some rest but I ended being super nervous anyways and obviously slept badly again. I think it was the adrenaline or something. In a way it was good to experience that rush again, which I haven’t felt since my tennis days.
The run ended up being so good though! I ran really well and ended up finishing in 2:06. I was so happy because my goal was to finish under 2 hours and 10 minutes so CHECK! To be perfectly honest, after my super slow run last year I thought that improving my time for 20 minutes was a bit farfetched and I wasn’t really sure I’ll be able to do it. But I did it and improved for 24 minutes #totalhumblebrag. I was also really happy because I got to run with my dad the entire time. The last 3K were brutal and I honestly think I would have slowed waaaay down if it hadn’t been for him. We split at around 20.5 because he went on to run the 42K. Crazy! I couldn’t even imagine going for another 21!
I’m still a little sore today but all in all it’s been OK and I’m actually motivated to keep up with the running this time around. I’ll do another race at the end of November I think and another half marathon in the spring.
And then yesterday it was Halloween! We didn’t really do much in terms of trick or treating but I did get a last minute costume for Lara because she really wanted to dress up. They also carved the most gigantic pumpkin I’ve ever seen with grandma and grandpa.
And in the evening we went to see her little cousin and they dressed up there as well, as Snow White and Rey from Star Wars. It was so darn cute! Lev’s not too thrilled with costumes but he obviously loved the light saber.
And now it’s back home to Montpellier… Travel day for us tomorrow, bright and early.
Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!
