Summer Glow: Foundation & Bronzer

So, summer is practically around the corner and I’m excited to finally get that healthy summer glow back. I’m always a little bummed when it’s gone sometime in October and the promise of winter white is right in front of me.

I went to get a light summer foundation a few weeks ago, something a shade or two darker than what I use in the winter and with a much lighter texture but with SPF (absolute must-have). I’ve probably mentioned this before but I actually don’t wear foundation during the day in the summer (I use this instead). But if we’re going out to dinner or something, I do put it on just to get a slightly more even coverage.

te-yslThe foundation I got is the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat. It’s my first time using it and I have to say I’m really liking it so far. It gives just enough coverage and you can always layer some more if you need it. The only thing I would say is that it goes on best with fingers. I have a foundation brush and a beauty blender, so I’ve tried using all three techniques and I prefer it when I put it on with my fingers. Unlike the Teint Miracle from Lancôme, which I use in the winter (I’m obsessed with it FYI) and which works really good with the beauty blender.

The second item I didn’t plan on getting because I already have this Too Faced Sun Buny powder bronzer but was ultimately convinced after trying it, is the Bare Minerals Sheer Sun liquid bronzer. I’ve had real reservations about this because bm-sheersunhello, liquid bronzer? I’m used to the good ol’ powder and brush and this was a little out there for me. But I’ve tried and saw how little you have to use to get an amazing glow and immediately decided it was worth it.

The way to use it is to drop a few drops onto a brush. I use a smaller kabuki or a mineral powder brush. Then I blend it in on the back of my hand and then apply to my face. It gives you a glowy bronzed look that’s much dewier than if you use a powder bronzer and the dewy glowy look is something I really love at the moment.
