As promised, I wanted to share some of my January beauty buys.
In December I ran out of my trusty Mario Badescu moisturizer and had to place an order for a new one on Beauty Bay. While I was waiting for that one, I had to resort to buying something to hold me in between and I picked up this super affordable Afrodita Hydra Thermal 24 hour moisturizer with hyaluronic acid (for normal to combination skin), while I was in Slovenia.
Afrodita is a Slovenian all natural cosmetics brand and thus far I’ve only had experience with their body lotions and shower gels. But I have been loving this moisturizer. It’s super hydrating so perfect for my winter skin but at the same time not greasy at all. The hyaluronic properties plump up the skin and after a month of using it, I have to give this one an A. The only thing I will say is there is not SPF factor in it so you need some sort of sun protection on your skin during the day. Since I’ve been putting on makeup pretty much every day and my foundation has SPF that took care of that.
I also finally bought a serum from Oz Naturals. I’ve been reading rave reviews about their products for over a year now and as soon as I got back to France at the beginning of January, I put in the order. I got the Vitamin C facial Serum and I am telling you, if you are on the market for a new serum this is the one to get. IT IS AMAZING! I have never, ever been so impressed with a skin product before, I’m not kidding. I’ve been using it at night in combination with the Afrodita moisturizer and my skin has never been this good, this soft, or this clear. I had a couple of period pimples come in right before my period but they cleared up super fast and nothing since then. But just the consistency of my skin feels so good, it’s crazy. And the best part is, Oz Naturals is obviously all organic and incredibly affordable in comparison to other serums that offer similar results. Honestly, go get it now!
My third purchase that I’m loving is this Zoeva vegan face paint brush. I actually wanted to buy the flat top kabuki initially but since I have a similar one that’s still pretty good, I decided to take this one instead. it seemed like it might work for contour too so there. I’ve only used it a couple of times to put on my foundation and I really like it. They’re really high quality brushed so if that’s the sort of thing you’re into, I highly recommend it.
Another thing I got, and this was actually a Christmas present from my mom, is the Dior Blush Light & Contour (shade 002). I have been using the dark contour part almost every day and it’s really lovely. It’s creamy, easy to apply, and easy to blend. I’ve been using the highlighter part a little less just beause it’s really, really shimmery and doesn’t blend into my skin as nicely. I’ve just been so spoiled with the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector highligher that I feel like almost nothing else compares.
Last beauty purchase of the month was this Eyeko liquid eyeliner. I’m not a big cat eye person and I rarely do flicks but I have been experimenting with liquid eyeliner lately and so I decided to give this one ago. If you’re looking for a liquid eyeliner that easy to apply and that won’t budge once you’ve put it on, this is it. It’s really good. I also have one from Kiko that was really cheap and it doesn’t even compare. The Kiko one transferred onto my lid within hours, while the Eyeko stayed on perfectly during the whole day.
OK, folks, that’s it for January beauty buys. I’m so happy with all these products I’ve been using, it’s been a successful skin care month and I have to say again, it’s crazy what having good skin will do to your overall well being.
